In domestic and industrial applications, when two or more systems need to be connected in series to operate with water or other fluids, special flexible tubes are used, designed to be used in a wide range of operating conditions. To enable the marketing of these tubes worldwide, Gnali Bocia has adopted the UNI CIG 7129 standard, which sets the criteria for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of domestic systems and similar for the use of combusted gas distributed via pipelines. Although it refers to situations in which there is direct contact with combustible gas, this standard is adapted and used also for flexible water tubes.
The technical specifications of the standard envisage that flexible water tubes must be installed with or without longitudinal welding, with quality and dimensions in accordance with at least UNI 8863 in the lightweight series. According to the standards governing flexible water tubes, the table states the tube external diameter and related thickness and internal diameter. The flexible steel tubes for water must be connected by means of fittings with threads compliant with the UNI ISO 7/1 standard, or by butt welding by fusion. The UNI ISO 7/1 standard also specifies which sealing devices must be used in flexible tubes to avoid water leaks at the joints: the admissible elements include suitable hemp and sealants or polytetrafluoride. The use of materials such as lead oxide, red lead and similar are not admitted.
